Belgian beer brand Leffe just launched a 'milder' new offshoot of its Abbey-styled brew called Leffe Enkel. Boasting a lower Alcohol by Volume (AbV) rate of 4.5%, the new brew will roll out in kegs in the UK market exclusively for the moment.
According to the Belgian brewing brand owned by powerhouse Anhauser-Busch InBev(AB InBev), the new Leffe Enkel brew was designed to offer consumers a "lighter drinking option" for the summer whilst tapping into growing demands for Belgian beer.
Inspiration for the new beer came from the traditional 'single bier' that were once brewed by the monks of Leffe's Abbey to refresh themselves with after work. Notably, the 4.5% AbV rating stands much lower than the existing Leffe Blonde and Leffe Brune brews that boasts higher AbV ratings of 6.6% and 6.5% respectively.
Notably, the arrival of Leffe Enkel sees the increased investment into the UK drinks market by AB InBev. Besides Leffe, the firm also owns other leading beers brands such as Budweiser, Hoegaarden, and Stella Artois.
